Sports Logue’s 2025-26 Premier League Predictions

The wait for the 2025-26 Premier League campaign is all but over. In a few hours, defending champions Liverpool will take on Bournemouth in the red sea of Anfield to kick off what promises to be an epic season of top-flight English football. Before the game commences, we at Sports Logue are getting ahead of ourselves with what we believe to be conceivable predictions in an unpredictable league.

2025-26 Premier League Predictions

Champions: Liverpool

Picking the defending champions to keep their title feels pretty cliché, doesn’t it? Usually, the defending champions are seen as the top picks to repeat. It is no different for this Liverpool side heading into the 2025/25. But they're not just our champions’ pick based on last season; it's also because they've made solid improvements in key areas while keeping most of the core from last year, aside from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Mohamed Salah will not suddenly become a shadow of his world-class self in just a few months. Neither will Van Dijk, Ibrahim Konate, and Alisson. Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will only improve from last season. Add to these the additions of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Giovanni Leoni (and the impending arrival of Marc Guéhi and Isak??), the Reds are starting to look like a real juggernaut.

There might be concerns regarding depth in midfield and attack (as things stand), but there’s no shortage of talent and experience in this Liverpool side, which is why we think they will win.

Top Four/Title Contenders: Liverpool. Chelsea. Arsenal. Man City

1. Liverpool

Predicted champions, guaranteed top four finish.

2. Arsenal

There is no doubt that the additions of Viktor Gyökeres, Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Nørgaard, and Cristhian Mosquera will improve the Arsenal team. The big question, then, is: Will all that be enough to usurp a Liverpool side that has also gotten better?

Arsenal will put up a better challenge than last season. They might win a trophy or two (cup competitions), but they do not have enough ammo in their arsenal to outlast Liverpool over the course of 38 league matches.

3. Chelsea

Fresh off winning the Club World Cup, Chelsea head into the season as a more balanced, experienced side than last season. They boast the deepest team in the league, which will come in handy when the games begin to come thick and fast from the midway point of the season. There’s a big chance Enzo Maresca’s side upset our predictions by finishing above Arsenal. Defence, however, will be their undoing.

4. Man City

A Pep Guardiola-coached team will always be contenders or be viewed as one. Man City will be in and around the top – they will not end at the top for a number of reasons, injuries being a major part of the reason. Rodri missed much of last season through a ruptured ACL and we all saw how much that affected City. He suffered a setback recently and will not return until after the September break. Who is to say if the Ballon d'Or winner will return as the same player before the major injury?

Also, most of the January signings have failed to make the desired impact, setting City a step back. Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Aït-Nouri are exciting summer additions. Still, it is hard to see City, in its current form, muster a strong title challenge.

Player of the Season: Cole Palmer, Chelsea

Admittedly, Palmer’s form dropped a level for the majority of the second half of last season. He achieved redemption with his strong showing in the Conference League final and at the Club World Cup, where he won the tournament's Golden Ball. That final performance against PSG in particular will not be forgotten in a hurry.

As the cream of a young, talented, and deep Chelsea crop good enough to contend, Palmer is poised for a remarkable season. Sure, he will face stiff competition from the likes of Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Bukayo Saka.

Golden Boot: Erling Haaland, Man City

For virtually every other striker in the league, a return of 22 goals in 31 matches would be met with appreciation; by Haaland’s standards, it is considered a down season, a season where a god drops down a level or two to the mortal realm. But make no mistake, Haaland is still the deadliest striker in the League (and the world), and if injuries are at bay, the likelihood of him winning his third Golden Boot in four seasons is far greater than not.

Playmaker of the Season: Bukayo Saka, Arsenal

In a league replete with sublime creative attacking talents, this is perhaps the toughest prediction to make. The likes of Salah, Palmer, Wirtz, and B. Fernandes could all hit double figures for assists before this post sees the light of day. The same could be said of Saka. Saka was atop the assists chart last season before injury struck. This season, he has a prolific attacking partner in the form of Viktor Gyökeres, who Arsenal will rely on for goals. Saka will be there to provide him with assists. The winger is also on take set pieces, and Arsenal is known for scoring from them.

Young Player of the Season: Florian Wirtz, Liverpool

Liverpool broke several transfer records to prise Florian Wirtz away from his homeland. If there’s one player worth doing that for, it’s Wirtz. Over the years, the German has built a reputation for himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. The numbers support this assertion, and his appeal to the eyes only strengthens it.

Wirtz might need a short period of adaptation to get up to the speed and physicality of the Premier League. His technical foundation makes it a no-brainer to believe he’ll be talked about as one of the league’s best players, not just among the best young players, in the coming months.

Golden Glove: David Raya, Arsenal

Arsenal can pride itself on having the best defence in the league. Not to take anything from him, but the structure in place makes the job a little less difficult for David Raya. The Spaniard has won two Golden Gloves in his first two years in North London. Betting against him would be daring.

Manager of the Season: Arne Slot, Liverpool

Arne Slot defied the odds en route to a dominant title win last season. The odds are on his side this time around. If he delivers a second title in his second season, as we have predicted, it would be difficult to overlook him for this honour.

Team to be Relegated:  Wolves. Burnley. Leeds

18. Wolves

Vitor Pereira did a wonderful job guiding Wolves to safety last season. However, the club has failed to significantly reinvest with the sums gathered from the sales of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri, two key players from last season.

19. Burnley, 20. Leeds

The Premier League is a brutal dog-eat-dog world where there is very little for the smaller dogs to feed on and equally very little chance for their survival. Unfortunately for newly promoted sides like Burnley and Leeds, they are the smaller dogs here. Sunderland, the other newly promoted side, just about survives the drop in our view, all thanks to their solid transfer window.
